Implementing gun control in the United States would only result in more chaos and increased rebellion from citizens who responsibly and legally own firearms. In doing so, the law-abiding citizens would be left defenseless against the criminals who continue to obtain guns illegally. Not only that, but the 2nd amendment rights of the United States Constitution would be diminished and the crime in the community would remain the same or perhaps increase. Gun control would not stop criminals from illegally obtaining guns, the community could be under more protection, and the Constitution of the United States would remain intact if a control was not placed. According to NBC News, â€Å"eighty-two percent of weapons involved in mass shootings over†¦show more content†¦For instance, Devin Patrick Kelley opened fire in a church in Sutherland, Texas and killed a total of 26 individuals. After many shots were fired, a local resident grabbed their rifle and pursued him as he fled the c hurch. (Andone, Hartung, Simon, 2017) If it wasn’t for that citizen who had their own gun, many more lives could of potentially been in danger. Majority of shootings take place in areas where firearms are prohibited such as churches, schools, or even malls. Believe it or not, guns hold a lot of power because they can take lives, save lives of others, and also provide a sense of security to their owners. Needless to say, those who are anti-gun will argue that guns are bad because they kill people. In actuality, it isn’t the gun who has killed another, it is the person controlling the gun. What really matters is who is holding the gun because they are the one’s who have the power to protect rather than inflict harm. The right to bear arms; the Second Amendment under the United States Constitution, states that â€Å"A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.â₠¬  The Constitution was written in 1787 for many reasons and one of those reasons was that it could give rights to the citizens of this country.
